David Gnuoy / Terrence Dixon – The Collective EP [Utensil]

Shortly after Claude Young founded his Dow Label he felt he needed another label for more minimal stuff.
Utensil was borned an the first release was this EP from David Gnuoy and Terrence Dixon. I’m not sure but I would guess that David Gnuoy is none other than Claude himself in disguise. The surname is a reversed version of Young and I wouldn’t be surprised if one of his middle names is David.

The release here is the first record Terrence Dixon showed up on and would later release more on this label like the later release I posted on before, here.

The initial track is a minimal tracky chicago techno styled piece with an tension-filled atmosphere. Track 2 is a calm  organ driven minimal track. The last track from David Gnouy is a track that sounds as if he was allowed into Robert Hoods studio and used the sounds and effects from Hood’s “Rhythm Of Vision”. Final track of this EP is made by Terrence Dixon with tensed atmospheric drones and sequenced synth sounds that gets a variety of effect processing. It’s a great effect track which is perfect to mix with.

  1. Nice one. I used to play Untensil 002 a lot, which is still one of my favorites from Claude, but hadn’t heard this one yet. I’m digging Terrrence’s track on this.
